Hooked on Nooks...

Nooks, cosy corners, dens, comfy spots, hideouts....whatever you call it, you know what I mean. We all have our favourite little space to sit, chill out, relax with a mag and sip (insert your favourite tipple here)....don't we? If you don't, you need one!...Whether it be a big comfy love seat or a cushion filled bench in your kitchen, you've gotta love 'em!....

Something Old, Something New....

We've had a pretty difficult task on our little hands this week. A very lovely client was in desperate need of a revamp in her now grown-up son's old bedroom and although the room is wonderfully big and spacious, it seemed that it had lost a bit of personality. The olive green curtains and pinky wallpaper were to stay, along with all the furnitue!! Soooo as you can imagine, our hands were tied a little. BUT we've sprinkled a little Style Inside magic and come up with a 'upcycled' scheme to zapp some personality back into it.

The Challenge.....
Before
Soon to be used as a guest bedroom for her daughter and young family we wanted to bring a touch of femininity to the room. Muted tones and dusky pinks against the olive green in the curtains makes for a relaxed feel. Her old pine furniture has been sent off to be painted in F & B's Wimborne White and it's now just down to the finishing touches! Amazing what a few soft furnishings can do, innit!?

The Magic!...

Wish You Were Here...

Last weekend I spent a lovely few days in the gorgeous town of Ilfracombe in Devon.

Nineteen family members and I took to the coast to celebrate my Nan’s 80th birthday and stayed The Quarry - a stunning 7 bed house set in 1/2 acre of gardens with stunning views of the south west coast..

Bought in 2004 by Kirsty and Paul Jackson, they restored the huge, detached Victorian property and created a luxurious, modern, family-friendly home for all to enjoy. As well as owners they have both used their creativity and talent into making the perfect holiday home with a personal touch. With a background in nightclub and bar design, Paul is a vintage fan and hates buying new - he designed and made the kitchen, the bathrooms and wonderful bespoke bed frames. Kirsty is an artist and throughout the property her gorgeous paintings and cute printed cushions a dotted around for that added touch of personality.

How gorgeous is this house? It let’s in so much light too! The accessories such as the lampshades and cushions really make this property special. What do you think?

Summer House Rescue...

So, the weather it just downright confusing at the moment - literally rain and wind to glorious sunshine in less than a minute! Well, it's not getting the better of us!!! So take THAT, weather!

I've put together a little inspo board for my Aunt. She's just had a beautiful summer (yes, summer!!) house built at the bottom of her beautiful garden and she of course needs some beautiful things to put in it....voilaaaa!

I wanted to keep it simple with splashes of colour and mix in some wood to create that all natural feel....and she's a HUGE Hockney fan (especially since his epic London exhibition this spring)....so I thought a nice bright piece would lift the space (original?...well that depends entirely on her budget!).....

Moroccan Dreams

I couldn't not share this place with you! I spotted this gorgeous Marrakech boutique hotel Riyad el Mezouar this morning whilst supping on my frothy coffee...DIVINE doesn't even cover it. Beautifully styled and in-keeping with the Moroccan tradition but and not OTT...and that's the key! Little bit in love I think...

Please take me there now...!!!

I can definitely see myself perched upon one of these chairs enjoying breakfast overlooking the courtyard

Dreamy...!

Arabian Nights

It's always a nice feeling to reach the 1st of any month, don't you think? It somehow has the power to encourage new things - a new start, a new diet, a new fitness regime perhaps...(ok, too much?!)..

How about a new adventure? For one half of Style Inside this is true! Katie is currently cruising at 37,500ft on her merry way to Dubai for 10 days. The cheek!... But in all fairness, it's a business trip (and part shopping of course! - I've handed over my shopping list)..so we'll be in touch every day to bring you some Middle Eastern inspired posts!

So with this in mind I thought a little Arabian-Glam inspo board would whet your appetite...

Sunny Side Up...

What a glorious morning!! Sunshine and NO RAIN! At last! Drought? What drought?....

So these little rays of sunshine beaming through my living room window got me thinking (and dreaming) about beautiful homes in the sun....and I came across this beauty featured on Spearmint Decor. A beautiful country home in Palmela, Portugal. Not surprisingly it belongs to interior designer Monica Penaguião.

Loving the rustic modern mix - perfect balance.
