Victorian Secret

After browsing the wonders of The Design Files last week, I came across this not-so-little Melbourne beauty and just had to share it. Interior designer Caecilia Potter of Atticus & Milo who shares this truly impressive Victorian home with her husband James and two children has spent the past 3 years painstakingly restoring it to reveal its beautiful original features. You name it, it's been done. Totally rewired, re-plastered and re-painted throughout, the old timber panelling, doors and staircases painstakingly cleaned down and the original hallway tessellated tiles polished to expose their original finishes. The entire renovation has been respectfully carried out to ensure the mix of traditional and contemporary complement one another - and I think it's safe to say it's been achieved!

Caecilia has an intriguing and rather adorable view of her home 'We all love the sense of patina and age in our home, she is like a warm and fun old lady with a very original character'

The gardens, also designed by Caecilia, are equally as impressive. Complete with an incredible freshwater swimming pool it not only looks fantastic (and oh so inviting), but the natural mineral spring water also preserves their 100 year old peppercorn tree.

Take a little look for yourselves....I guarantee you'll be inspired!!

Simply Swedish

We take a little peek around Swedish photographer Jakob Nylund's beautifully simple and oh so scandinavian style home. It screams clean and airy with it's white walls, greys and muted undertones but it's the quirky little additions to stop it from being too clinical and stamp Jakob's personality all over it!

It's a typically Swedish home with a base of monochrome, but it's the traditional features that give this space an extra twist; the original doors and parquet flooring, the old cast iron radiator and his log basket and fire tools.

I think you'd find it very difficult to be anything but calm living in this home!...

All White?

Being HUGE fans of the 'all white' look ourselves, we were drawn to this gorgeous pad belonging to Jewellery Designer Stine A. Johansen. A clever mix of new and old, her flea market finds sit neatly with her big and bold pieces of art that scream personality.

Her house is as practical as it is beautiful. It's a real family home and it's clear that her surroundings inspire her to be creative - in work and at home.

'I always have stuff lying around that inspires me to make jewellery, and my jewellery gives me inspiration for color schemes and compositions in the home'.

What do you think?? Too white or just right??

We're loving her mix of clean white against pops of vibrant colour!
